“Prefecture” is a photographic series, which testifies the journey of one of these immigrant men, who fights against negation to exist.
The project was born between the walls of a building that was in urgent need of structural repairs. An abandoned place, in a tired state, similar to that of the stranger.
The stranger is our neighbour, our comrade, our teacher, our co-worker or our companion of life … In difficult times, he might awaken fears and reticence towards him. That time he must look away, shrug his shoulders, become “invisible.”
I wanted to create a narrative in pictures that shows the brutal loss of identity in the comer from elsewhere, with the intention of exorcising this mute sadness, and give it back the missing voice.
“Prefecture”, a work on the unknown person who lives in isolation. Common elements such as doors, windows and partitions determine his daily life. I try to give the character constraints, in order to obtain postures that will tell his story. He has a vocation to play with the full and the vacant.
